Description

  Wide-cut 15° F mummy for maximum comfort

Don't let a little claustrophobia keep you from getting into a mummy bag; everything about the Western Mountaineering Badger MF is built for comfort. The 15-degree Badger is a mammoth 66 inches wide at the shoulder and 41 at the foot, and this girth is kept in line with a warm down-filled collar that provides a barrier against convective heat loss and a full-length insulated draft tube along the zipper. The hood is cut large and fills around your face without having to be cinched tight. Holding it all together is a lightweight, wind- and water-resistant MicroLite XP™ microfiber shell with a thread count of over 400 for amazing breathability and water-shedding properties.

Like all of Western Mountaineering's bags, the Badger MF is made by hand in San Jose, California. Their down is sourced from free-range mother geese who are never live-plucked or force-fed.

Footprint sold separately.

‘A Proper Loop’: Athlete Takes On 205-Mile Tor de Géants Despite Threats, Doubts, and Injuries
François DHaene is used to running 100-mile races through ultra-challenging mountain environments. But when he took on the Tor des Géants in Chamonix in 2024, he had no real idea what he was getting into. He overcame injuries, trained harder than he imagined, and set out to win one of the most grueling races in the European Alps. Not only...
8 Great-Looking (and Smooth-Riding) Women’s Running Shoes for Travel
Runners who travel know a packing trick: Instead of cramming our bulky running shoes in our luggage, we wear them. We wear them on planes, trains, and car rides. We wear them to tour cities, countrysides, museums, galleries, and trails. While others suffer from blisters and fatigue in their sandals, loafers, or even stylish hiking boots, we think to ourselves,...

2026 Nissan Leaf Grows From an Entirely New Tree
The 2026 Nissan Leaf has gone through a massive transformation. A real leaf might turn from green to red in the fall, but the Nissan Leaf has been transformed from a quirky hatchback into a sleek crossover with Ariya-like styling. Its not exactly rugged, but it should be a lot more appealing to the large number of buyers looking for...
These Tripods Stand Above the Rest: Peak Design Pro Tripod Review
Ive used a lot of janky camera tripods in my life. Some were cheapos from Walmart, others were old and inherited, and a few were from the CU Boulder equipment rental room. Ive also used some really nice tripods on shoots using Red Cameras in Alaskas Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) and elsewhere. But as soon as I got hold...
The First Corvette ‘Hypercar’: Introducing the 2026 ZR1X
When Chevrolet relaunched the Stingray back in 2020, it pushed into entirely new territory with a first-ever mid-engine version of “America’s sports car,” pouring out as much as 495 horsepower. Of course, anyone who’s followed the history of the ‘Vette over the decades is well aware that the bowtie brand routinely rolls out a series of ever more exotic machines....
Video: Smart Layering Kept Me Cozy at Mount Everest Base Camp
The trek to Mount Everest Base Camp is the ideal setting to test gear, due to the rugged terrain, tough living conditions, and massive fluctuations in temperature. In May, our reporter Ben Ayers completed the 11-day hike to Mount Everest Base Camp, before spending a month living at 17,500 feet. During his reporting mission, Ayers tested a wide range of...
Lightning Strikes 14er Hikers — While on the Phone With Colorado SAR
The arrival of summer means more hikers seeking high-altitude summits —and more rescues when they get into trouble. That was evident this weekend, when a lightning strike on a couple of Colorado hikers resulted in a high-altitude rescue from some of the states most experienced first responders. The rescue began Thursday evening, June 12, when Colorados Alpine Rescue Team was...
The Volunteers Who Could Save Your Life
When Hurricane Helene hit western North Carolina in the fall of 2024, the damage was devastating. But while most people sought safety, members of the Linville-Central Rescue Squad headed straight into the disaster zone. Technical training and long hours of practice enabled the all-volunteer team to provide critical response and support during the area’s catastrophic flooding. The event was unprecedented,...
The Most Remote Places to Stay on Earth That Are Worth the Trek
Profound silence on the tundra in sub-Arctic Canada, the gunshot of a calving glacier heard from a tent in Greenlands backcountry, the reflection of snow-crowned peaks in a mirrored lagoon in the high plateau of Bolivia. Some of my most awe-inspiring travel experiences have been in the vast wilderness, where I felt humbled by the scale of time and space...

The attempt doesn’t come from nowhere. A February 2025 study in the Journal of Applied Physiology predicted a women’s sub-4 mile within the next...
