Aggressive Looks, Quiet Ride: Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T Tires Review
I’ve been building vehicles capable of off-road use and abuse since I was in high school. Out of all of the components that I have toiled over in deciding what’s best for that vehicle, tires are easily the ones I do the most research on. After all, there are factors like fitment, handling in rain and snow, ride comfort, and...

Running 300,000 Vertical Feet In a Year: Noble Goal or a Fool’s Errand?
In the pursuit of any goal, we all face a moment of questioning ourselves, sometimes out loud. The first week of last December, I had that moment, a question as I power-hiked up an icy trail, listening to my own labored breath: The answer, of course, was: No, it was not necessary. I had a cold, or enough remnants of...
Invisibility Shield, Sugar Cane Surf Shoes, Everyday Hydration, and More Emerging Gear
After this years solar eclipse on April 8, it wont be visible again in the U.S. until 2044. That should probably excite more of us than it does, but given the state of the world these days, a little ennui isnt too surprising. Thankfully, weve got nature to give us perspective — and the sweet gear we use along the...
‘Dirty Dozen’ Redux: Timor Heritage Field WWW Watch Review
The term “homage” stirs many emotions in the watch world. These watches pay tribute to an icon or borrow heavily from a classic design. Take the Rolex Submariner. It’s a timepiece that launched a thousand tool watches. The diver theme inspired some versions. Others clearly copy from the Crown’s design sheet. Distinguishing the threshold between the two? Well, therein lies...

The Bentley of Sharp Objects: WE Knife Co. OAO Review
Every once in a while, a knife comes out that makes you think. Last year, it was the Benchmade Narrows — a knife made from premium materials with an excellent design, but priced at $600. At that price, it felt less like a pocket tool to hit the trail with, and more like a precious investment to be coddled. That said,...
