  Technical Information

The motivation behind the Frontier MAX filtration system was easy, we wanted a filter that does everything and does it better than anything else. So we told our engineers to get to work, and what they designed is the Frontier MAX. MAX because it does it all, and does it better than anything else. We wanted a filter that connected to hydration packs. The MAX incorporates our patented UQC connection system that allows you to connect it to any quick connect on the market. We wanted a filter that protected you from every biological threat that you might possibly encounter, so we included the Aquamira GRN Line Backcountry filter, designed to be easy to use, lightweight, compact, and reliable. GRN Line Backcountry filtration is achieved using Hollow Fiber Technology. Inside a hollow fiber membrane water filter, hundreds of tubes are bundled together to create a filter matrix. The walls of these tubes are filled with microscopic pores, or holes. As you push water through the walls of these fibers, any microbiological threats in the water source are trapped inside. The best thing about the MAX is that it connects to anything with a simple "click" and it accepts an array of Aquamira Series IV filters so that you can customize your system for whatever environment you find yourself in. It even comes with a patented Bite Me valve that converts the MAX to a filter straw with the same simple "click". Nothing is more versatile, nothing provides more protection, and nothing else provides you with certified claims. Anything else is just hype.

Footprint sold separately.

Columbia Trolls Flat-Earthers: Take a Photo and ‘Win’ the Whole Company
Its hard to take flat-Earthers seriously — but maybe we should at least acknowledge them. In a hilarious new marketing stunt, the CEO of Columbia pokes fun at those who believe the Earth is not round, but is, in fact, a flat construction with edges. Tim Boyle actually makes a proposition for those who believe in this strange view of...
Airstream Goes the Cowboy Way With Stetson + 6666 Ranch
All camp, no prattle. Airstreams latest brings it together with two other western icons to build a luxury experience with more grit than the entire cast of the movie Tombstone. The Airstream Stetson + 6666 is filled with Old-West details, vintage-looking artwork, and details inspired by those brands from the top of your hat to the bottom of your spurs....
Dometic Recon Cooler Review: Smart Design With Real-World Usability
It started with the yellow. The Dometic Recon cooler is hard to miss: bright, bold, and easy to spot in the back of a Jeep or tucked among camping gear. When I pulled the 41L version into rotation for testing around Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley, I was curious whether this injection-molded cooler could deliver more than just good looks. Of...
Kei Cars Coming? Trump Wants ‘Very Small,’ ‘Really Cute’ Cars to Be Sold in the US
On Dec. 3, the Trump administration held a press conference announcing a shift in fuel economy regulations. However, if you were paying attention, Trump also basically said he’d like to see kei cars offered in the U.S. While he didn’t specifically call out the term “kei” (pronounced “kay”), he was clearly referring to them. Watch ‘Inaccessible’ Trailer: Skier, Hunter Griffin Post Explores How Unreachable Public Land Affects Everyone
In the U.S., over 16 million acres of public land are inaccessible because theyre locked up behind private parcels. This is an issue that affects hunters and anglers nationwide every year, and which GearJunkie has covered extensively. But just because hunters and anglers run into problems with inaccessible public land more often doesnt mean that it only affects them. Hikers,...
Crashing Klaus Obermeyer’s 106th Birthday: Meeting the Man Behind the Legendary Brand
Id never been to a 106th birthday party before. So I was not going to miss Klaus Obermeyers — even if that meant crashing it. After all, the man is a legend in the American ski industry. He was responsible for innovating technologies like dual-pane goggle lenses, high-altitude sunscreen, and down parkas. He was one of Aspens first ski instructors....
SITKA MicroDown Jacket Cuts Weight, Not Warmth
Ounces equal pounds, and pounds equal pain: A phrase that rings true with most backcountry hunters. In other words, we want our gear to be as lightweight and compressible as possible without giving up too much functionality or comfort. The folks at SITKA Gear are very familiar with living out of a backpack, and in light of the beginning phrase,...
Skiers and Snowboarders in Italy Are Now Required by Law to Wear Helmets
This article originally appeared on The Inertia. It would be tough to find a ski resort on the planet where people without helmets outnumber those wearing them. It’s one of the single largest shifts in safety adopted by everyday skiers and snowboarders in the last 30 years. It’s not just a safety trend that the masses got on board with. However,...
BOTE Kula 5 Magnepod Review: The Cooler That’s Cooler Than You’d Expect
The BOTE Kula 5 Magnepod isn’t your typical hard cooler. It’s a 5-gallon, round rotomolded tank that doubles as a camp seat, SUP companion, and day-trip sidekick. Built by a paddleboard brand known for its versatility, the Kula 5 feels like it was designed with a specific user in mind: folks who move between the water, the trail, and the...
BOA Killer? ‘Zip’ Laces Quietly Impress at 2025 ‘Running Event’
At first glance, I wasnt sure I was looking at the future of footwear. I stood on the edge of a cramped booth at the farthest edge of The Running Event in San Antonio. While dominated by running shoe reveals for the upcoming year, the show also housed a smattering of running-adjacent apparel, accessories, and —in the case of the...
Ewok Bunting? Han Solo Trench Coat? Columbia’s Latest ‘Star Wars’ Drop Is Out of This World
The nostalgia is strong with this one. Star Wars fans may love to complain about Disneys direction of the sci-fi franchise, but a new gear collection from Columbia proves that this fandom still gets the coolest stuff. Columbia has been putting out limited-edition Star Wars capsules for several years. It would be easy for the brand to just slap some...
