Description

No matter the adventure, the right shelter makes all the difference. With all the space, comfort and features you need, the MSR Habiscape 6 feels like you packed up your house and brought it with you. Ideal for adventurous families or large basecamping groups, this three-season tent is ready to make camping everyone’s favorite pastime.

The Inside: Designed to make tent life comfortable and organized, the Habiscape offers plenty of space, standing height and pockets for everyone, including high pockets that keep items away from little hands. Light up the interior with ceiling loops, perfect for lanterns or string lights (sold separately). And a balance of mesh and solid fabric provides both privacy and airflow.

The Outside: You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to set up this large tent, even by yourself (we know little campers aren’t always the most helpful). Get large mattresses or cots inside easily through the two large doors. And the large front rainfly door can be set up three different ways depending on how you want to use the vestibule space.

  Vestibule poles sold separately.

How Women Respond to Strength Training, According to Science
To keep fit, the Omaha Daily Bee advised back in 1911, women should try “the imaginary motion of lifting a piano” and the real-life challenge of pulling a cork from a bottle. “Hold the bottle between your knees and pull and pull at the tightly driven cork,” the writer advised. Sadly, she didn’t specify how many sets and reps of...
Do You Enjoy Pain? And 86 Other Questions for a Professional Ultrarunner.
I am not that curious about how to get faster as a trail runner, but I am curious about how fast people’s brains work. My friend Mike Foote and I have a lot in common (we’re dads of toddlers, we both like early Metallica albums, we both live in Missoula, we both grew up in small towns in the Midwest,...

This Is Your Endurance on Cannabis
The best detail in Christian Cheung’s new study in the Journal of Applied Physiology is the rigorous, Caddyshack-esque screening the subjects had to undergo: a urine test to prove that they did, in fact, use drugs at least once a week. Such is the world of cannabis research, which still tends to make funding agencies and ethics committees a little...

The Outside Festival Is the Gathering the Outdoor Community Needs

Now we are thrilled to have the answer: the Outside Festival. This June 1-2 in Denver’s Civic Center Park we are hosting a one-of-a-kind event that mashes up...
How Foraging Taught Me Middle
It wasn’t crossing over into my forties that felt so unsettling, it was the physical signs—subtle as they were—that made aging bloom into something real and looming. After my fortieth birthday, over the course of two years, my periods became heavier and more painful. Now, at 42, I sometimes spot between cycles. Sometimes my period comes early. Every month, days before...
Can Strength Training Protect You from Running Injuries?
The best way to prevent running injuries isn’t to waste your time stretching or searching for the perfect shoe; it’s to get strong. That’s where the zeitgeist has been headed over the past decade or so, as old ideas about injury prevention have produced disappointing results in studies. The rationale for strength training, by contrast, is seemingly unassailable: injuries occur...
Appetite for Construction: How Red Bull Rampage Builds the Most Dangerous Bike Jumps in the World
More than 250 million years ago, in the Triassic period, what is now western Utah was a broad coastal flat of the supercontinent Pangaea. The Moenkopi Formation, as it is known, saw five million years’ worth of sedimentary layers—gypsum, siltstone, mudstone—dumped onto the flats by oceans and rivers. Nearly 200 million years later, the gradual seismic uplift of the Colorado...

Flaco the Owl Was Destined to Die Tragically. The Man Who Followed Him for a Year Reveals Why.
Flaco is dead. Long live Flaco. In case you were unaware, one of the most whimsical and curious stories in the recent memory of New Yorkers came to an abrupt and sad end last Friday, February 23. A building superintendent on Manhattan’s Upper West Side discovered the body of Flaco, a massive Eurasian eagle owl who had escaped from the...
