Renowned Photog Turns ‘Brokenness Into Superpower’: Books Examine Mental Health in Outdoors
Most photographers spend their lives hidden behind the camera. While their subjects might be rendered iconic through a careful balance of light and composition, the images creators usually keep themselves on the dark side of the shutter. But Cory Richards took the most important image of his career when he turned the camera on himself. Youve probably seen it. Its...
Why You’re Hungrier When It’s Cold
I run year-round, but winter is by far my favorite time to go jogging. When it’s cold and crisp out, I can go much longer and harder, often doubling the length of my summertime routes. Afterward, I want nothing more than to eat like a bear preparing to hibernate for the winter. I always figured my increased appetite was merely...
2025 Chevrolet Silverado HD Trail Boss Review: Not Quite a ZR2, but That’s the Whole Point
For model year 2025, Chevrolet added the Trail Boss package as an option for the 2500-class Silverado Heavy Duty. Similar to the 1500 Silverado, the 2500 Trail Boss includes Z71 suspension upgrades, blacked-out bumpers with red recovery hooks, and 20-inch wheels shod in all-terrain tires. A gas V8 comes standard, but the torque-monster Duramax diesel adds towing capacity. This helps...
Why I Let My Kid Roam Free Outside
When I heard the news that a Georgia mom was arrested for reckless conduct after someone spotted her ten-year-old son walking alone less than a mile from home, the first thing I did was open Google Maps. I looked up the distance between my house and a nearby middle school that my six-year-old daughter sometimes walks to with a friend...
A Fixed Blade for EDC: Benchmade Dacian Belt Knife Review
Overall, Benchmade is a top-notch knife brand with a tactical, outdoor focus. However, with a few new releases, it seems to be experiencing a brand metamorphosis. If you look at its Bugout line, there are recently released wild color combinations like a black-coated blade with burnt brass handle scales and an electric blue thumb stud. Moving into the Shootout line...
The Best Bushcraft Knives of 2024
You might be asking yourself, “What is bushcraft, and why are there specific knives for it?” Well, according to Dave Canterbury, in his book Bushcraft 101, bushcraft is a term for wilderness skills and the practice of surviving and thriving in the natural world.” This may lead you to believe, then, that bushcraft knives are survival knives. But they’re not...

Black Diamond Equipment issued a voluntary recall on November 21, 2024, for its PIEPS Pro IPS avalanche transceiver after a single consumer report revealed an issue with the size of the battery compartment. No injuries or fatalities associated with this problem have been reported. According to Black Diamond, the battery compartment for the PIEPS Pro IPS transceiver made from October...
Are You Eating Enough? Here Are 5 Signs You Might Not Be.
“Running on empty” is a common idiom that can be used to describe a number of scenarios where someone is worn out or unmotivated. For runners that are underfueling, it can be quite literal. Whether you are knowingly or unknowingly underfueling, there are important factors to know about your caloric and nutritional needs.    Despite the prevailing myth that weight loss...
The Best E-Bikes for Hunting in 2024
E-bikes have no doubt carved out a spot in the hunting industry. They are much quieter, more affordable, and easier to transport than something like a Side-by-Side (SxS) or ATV. And let’s not forget that e-bikes dont require fossil fuels. Whether it’s shortening travel time to a glassing spot or aiding with hauling meat out of the backcountry, our hunting...
I Refuse to Allow Taylor Knibb to Become an Internet Meme
These are strange times for Olympians. An athlete can win medal after medal, but should they be caught on camera in a compromising or hilarious situation, the ensuing tonnage of Internet memes will overshadow those accolades. Want proof? I dare you to Google French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati or Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec. I fear that American Olympic triathlete Taylor...

But the new cocktail mixers from climber Matt Segal are one of many new products dropping this week that can level up your winter adventures. We also have a...
Shaun White Is Changing the Snowboarding Landscape Once Again

Over the course of his career, he racked up three Olympic gold medals on top of 13 X Games victories and forged a legacy as arguably the most well-known and decorated rider of all time.
