Description

Stable and secure for the up and the down with gear loops, equipment organization, and diagonal ski carry, the Rab Khroma 22 is for those seeking fresh tracks in rugged terrain. Built to make your day on the skin track straightforward, it has back panel entry for easy access to all your gear, easing difficult transitions from skin to crampon to ski. The detachable helmet holder secures your helmet to the outside of the pack, giving you extra volume for your gear inside, and all zips have been designed with mitt-friendly pullers for quick access on wind-blasted summits.

All Khroma packs are built with a rapid access avalanche equipment pocket. It has a two-way zip with a bright orange zip puller that is designed to always close in the same position – so in the blur of disaster you know exactly where to find it. Shovel handle and probe can be neatly stored in separate sleeves and there is space for the blade to be slotted in on top.

Rab has reinforced their already tough Cordura nylon with Spectra® Ripstop and a HydroShield water resistant finish. This construction makes the Khroma 22 highly abrasion-, tear-, and weather-resistant. It is built with the X-SHIELD™ carry system, which holds the pack close to your back for freedom of movement on both up and the down, giving you complete stability on technical descents. The wide, padded hip belt wraps around snug and secure, with a gear loop on one side and a large pocket on the other - perfect for snacks, GPS device, and a compass.

Streamlined and compact, the Khroma 22 feels low-profile and comfortable, perfect for everyday riding, simple day ski tours, and quick hikes to access the steepest lines.

Footprint sold separately.

The Best G-Wagen Ever Is Electric: 2025 Mercedes G 580 With EQ Technology Review
Known officially as the G 580 with EQ Technology, the new G stuffs a battery pack and four electric motors into the internal combustion version’s existing chassis rather than starting from scratch. The electric G-Wagen also receives slight stylistic revisions, mostly in the name of aero. But even if electrification represents the logical next step for a historically established military...
Rail to Trail: 7 NYC Hikes Accessible by Train
When you think of New York City, it’s easy to imagine all the makings of a concrete jungle — towering skyscrapers in place of mountain peaks and more light pollution than starlight. But amid the hustle and bustle, the city’s parks and green spaces offer a chance to enjoy nature without leaving the five boroughs.    Hike on forested trails or...
The 13 Best Airports in the World with Outdoor Lounges, Parks, and Pools—Yes, Pools
If you’re a regular traveler like me, you already know this: most airports are awful. You’re constantly rushing through a crowded terminal, competing with a harried mess of humanity, only to then cram yourself into a narrow seat for a few hours until you get to your next terminal purgatory—meanwhile, dragging your luggage the whole way. Germs waft through the...
Up A Tree Without A Paddle
It was the trip of a lifetime. Several months paddling the Amazon, trying to eat without being eaten. It almost all went to plan. But when Bruce Frey and Ed Welch found themselves being trailed through the jungle by a jaguar at sunset, their only choice was to take refuge in a tree and hope they could survive the night. ...
To Break a World Record on Everest, Nepali Mountaineer Purnima Shrestha First Broke with Tradition
Born into a family of subsistence farmers in the tiny village of Arughat, Nepal, Purnima Shrestha thought that the mountains around her were out of reach. Her village is a stop on the Manaslu Circuit, en route to the eponymous 8,000-meter peak, but Shrestha’s family didn’t even have running water. As a woman, she was expected to marry young, raise...
Wahoo ELEMNT Ace Review: Air Pressure Sensor Is Like a Wind Tunnel on Your Bike Computer
To many cyclists, especially road racers and triathletes, the ability to measure aerodynamic drag is the holy grail of data. The drag created by the body is one of the largest determinants of performance in these sports. And Wahoo brings relative aerodynamic drag measurements to the handlebar. Wahoos air pressure sensor is a category first and is, by far, the...
Badass Alpine Shell With Gimmicky App-Pairing Zipper: Artilect M-Formation 3L Review
Setting out from the parking lot of Meadow Mountain, it was bright, sunny, and in the mid-40s — warm for a February ski tour. But that didnt last long. About halfway to the summits ski shack, clouds rolled in, the temperature dropped sharply, and winds started picking up, biting through my fleece midlayer. I donned my Artilect M-Formation 3L shell...
Want to Live Longer? You Better Start Moving—All Day Long.
To predict your longevity, you have two main options. You can rely on the routine tests and measurements your doctor likes to order for you, such as blood pressure, cholesterol levels, weight, and so on. Or you can go down a biohacking rabbit hole the way tech millionaire turned longevity guru Bryan Johnson did to live longer. Johnson’s obsessive self-measurement...
Neck & Neck: AR World Champs Headed for Razor Finish
Four teams have been neck and neck for hundreds of miles of the Adventure Racing World Championships, competing ferociously to be the first to cross the finish line in Cuenca, Peru. So far, teams have traversed cold, high-altitude mountain plains, fast-flowing rivers, and dense, humid forests. Now, teams from France, Estonia, Sweden, and Brazil are closing in on the home...
Here’s What It’s Like to Go Camping with Shailene Woodley
The camp chairs are set up. A cracked clipboard rests under my arm. I’m stuffed into my mom jeans. It’s showtime. June gloom blankets Encinal Canyon in a lush mist. I could be in Narnia instead of Malibu, but I barely notice. My body stands in front of a marooned Airstream, waiting. But my mind is back home, wondering if...
A Bow for Every Shooter: Mathews Unveils 2025 LIFT X, XD, RS
Hunters tall and small rejoice. Matthews Archery got a little more inclusive for 2025. I know, most of you dont have to worry about it. But the fact is, a fair number of archers (like me) have a really hard time finding bows that fit. Thats part of the reason that Im stoked to write about the 2025 Matthews Archery...
