  Ultralight wide-cut mummy bag; 30° F

If you are claustrophobic or just need a little more room than the average backpacker, it can be very hard to find an ultralight sleeping bag that isn't shaped like a sarcophagus. With that in mind, Western Mountaineering designed the MegaLite, a wide mummy sleeping bag that offers room to move but retains a heat-efficient silhouette; a generous 64 inches of shoulder girth lets the larger folks enjoy the weight and volume savings of the ExtremeLite series. Continuous baffles allow you to regulate the temperature of the bag by shifting the down on top of you in colder temps or underneath you when things warm up. A full-length zipper, passive draft collar, and insulated draft tube round out the features on this popular bag.

Like all of Western Mountaineering's bags, the MegaLite is made by hand in San Jose, California. Their down is sourced from free-range mother geese who are never live-plucked or force-fed.

Footprint sold separately.

The Pants That Changed My Fishing Wardrobe: Magellan Outdoors Men’s Pro Angler Joggers Review
If you had told me a year ago that my favorite pair of pants would be joggers, I would have laughed in your face. I would have found it even more ridiculous if you told me that I would be wearing them while fishing. Joggers bring to mind lazy Saturday mornings, grabbing coffee in Suburbia. Not outdoor pursuits. However, my...
The Ultimate Binocular Warranty Comparison: Who’s Is Best?
You just dropped a paycheck or two on premium glass. Youre spotting elk at a thousand yards and glassing into the sunset with crystal-clear precision. But what happens when your toddler knocks your binoculars off the tailgate? Or you take a spill and your optics bounce down a shale slope? Thats when you find out if your investment came with...
National Geographic Photographer, Two Other Climbers Die in Peru
With an elevation of nearly 20,000 feet and treacherous routes to the summit, Mt. Artesonraju in the Peruvian Andes rarely sees ascents. The tragic deaths this month of an experienced climbing party show why it remains such a dangerous mountain. Several weeks after their initial disappearance, three climbers — including National Geographic photographer Edson Vandeira — were found dead on...
Pocket Knife Upstart Aims to Solve One Tricky EDC Problem
As a knife collector and nerd, I own somewhere around 100 pocket knives. Yeah, its a bit of a problem. But that also means there arent many designs I havent personally seen before. Well, color me surprised, because a relatively unknown brand just hit me with a totally new concept. Meet GhostClip, a clever design by Miami-based upstart PEAK SPEC....
Midland Adds Repeater Access to Its Flagship Walkie: Midland GXT67 Pro Radio Review
“How about now?” 15 miles is a long distance for most walkie-talkies, but my voice was still coming in clear, transmitting from the Midland GXT67 Pro. Granted, this radio isn’t just any walkie-talkie, but a repeater-capable GMRS unit, and by leveraging a little radio know-how, it was booming over the heads of lesser handhelds. The GXT67 Pro is the top...
Mystery on Isle Royale: Murder-Suicide Suspected After Bodies Found in National Park
The two 911 calls were made separately, but both reported the same thing: Two bodies were at a remote campsite in Michigans Isle Royale National Park. Around 4 p.m. on June 8, two National Park Service (NPS) rangers responded to the calls, hiking 11 miles overnight to the remote location. When they found the scene, an investigation was opened, the...

A 2025 report from the Council to Advance Hunting and the Shooting Sports (CAHSS) confirms what many in the outdoor world already suspect. Most Americans support hunting and shooting sports. The survey shows that support, however, depends on how, why, and what is being hunted or shot. Key Findings at a Glance 73% of Americans support legal hunting 74% support...

Same Impact, Different Trigger: Evolution Shadow Thumb Release Review
When I was coming up as a new bowhunter, the standard release everyone was given was an index-style release aid. It was the easiest transition from gun hunting to bowhunting. Fast forward to the present day, and I’d argue that the standard is slowly moving toward handheld releases. More specifically, a thumb release. They offer a natural, open-handed feel at...
