Ultra-compact and light down bag/blanket for travel & trail

This aptly named sleeping bag and down blanket is the traveler's best friend. Whether you are on a summer bike tour, or a hut trip, or couch surfing, or simply stuck at an airport or ferry terminal, the Traveller unpacks from an almost impossibly small compression sack to reveal a rectangular sleeping bag which can also unzip to form a quilt. The Traveller features a drawcord foot box which cinches tight for warmth or opens for ventilation.

Footprint sold separately.

AI Rescue Drone, Underwater Bone-Conduction Headphones, Lone Peak 9, and More Emerging Gear
Admit it: You really missed us. And by us, I mean GearJunkies Emerging Gear column, which has been out of commission for the last 2 weeks of the winter holiday. It was a short-lived slump for new outdoor products, however, and weve now got a packed week of cool stuff to share with you. For starters, weve got a few...
Connected Hunters: Get Ready for Whitetail Season With Tag’N Brag
For David and Dean Giarrizzo — the names behind the popular hunting media brand TagN Brag — whitetail hunting has evolved from a shared passion into a family business. The Buffalo, New York-based brothers, with their father and uncle, showcase the tradition and heritage of bowhunting on their social channels. Through years of filming, the TagN Brag team has amassed...
A Guide to Getting Outside Anywhere You Go
About 80% of the U.S. population lives in urban areas. If youre part of that majority, then you know how easy it can be to view cities as separate from the outdoors. But enjoying nature doesnt have to be relegated to weekend getaways. Fjällräven, a Swedish brand with a distinctly non-American take on the relationship between humans and nature, has...
HMD OffGrid Connects Your Phone to Satellites, Even in Backcountry
Staying safe while exploring the wilderness keeps getting easier, thanks to the growing number of options for emergency cell service. The latest offering comes from HMD, which just launched a new accessory to connect Android or iOS phones directly to satellites from anywhere in the U.S., including Alaska and Hawaii. This handheld device enables 24/7 emergency response even in remote...
Our Favorite Festival Gear
There are music festivals. There are film festivals. There are climbing and biking and yoga festivals. But there’s only one Outside Festival. The Denver event blends everything that makes outdoor festivals so fun, and the result is much, much better than the sum of its parts. That’s why the inaugural Outside Festival drew almost 20,000 people. It’s also why the...
Eli’s Soul Quest: World Cup Champion Skier Searches for Life After Competition
She won the Freeride World Tour in 2021 after 7 years of chasing that top spot on the podium. But Elisabeth Eli Gerritzen didnt feel fulfilled by competition. The 29-year-old Faction-sponsored Swiss skier is a self-described anti-systems person, and sports competitions are very systematic. So, after winning the most elite freestyle skiing event in the world, she went on a...
On Finding Adventure In Your Own Backyard
I have run and bicycled a certain one-mile section of the paved riverfront multi-use path in my hometown probably at least 200 or 300 times. A handful of times, I have thought to myself, “I should really stop and read some of these historical plaques along the trail.” I believed there to be two or three of them, and in...
As Residents Scramble, State Parks & Historic Landmarks Burn in LA Wildfires
The Palisades wildfire broke out in the Malibu area of Los Angeles on Tuesday and could become the most devastating fire in Californias history. In the days since, four more fires have sprung up around the city, from Beverly Hills to Arcadia, San Fernando, and within the Angeles National Forest. As these fires devastate neighborhoods and daily life, theyre also...
Why Even a Little Bit of Air Pollution Slows You Down
One of the funny little details in Eliud Kipchoge’s attempts to run a sub-two-hour-marathon was the electric pace cars. In Nike’s Breaking2 race in 2017, they used a Tesla. In the INEOS 1:59 Challenge, where Kipchoge actually broke the barrier, it was an Audi e-tron equipped with a specially built cruise control that was accurate to within less than a...
‘Art of Survival’: Alpinist Finds Zen in Extreme Danger
In extreme alpinism, you should always be ready to improvise. Thats the wisdom handed down by German climber Jost Kobusch, whos currently pushing the sports boundaries with a long-term project trying to reach the summit of Mount Everest. But wait, you say, dont hundreds of people climb Everest every year? Yes, but no one has climbed it like Kobusch. The...
Iconic Sandal Brand Breaks Into Hiking Shoes: Teva Trailwinder Low Review
I’ve long considered the Teva brand synonymous with sandals. That goes back to my middle school years when my dad proposed we take a guided raft trip. Despite minimal prior experience with watercraft of any kind, we decided a 5-night, 6-day trip down the Middle Fork of Idaho’s Salmon River was the adventure for us.    Then we went shopping. My...
Climatologist Daniel Swain Warned SoCal of “Extreme Fire Danger” Before the Catastrophic Blaze
This past Saturday, January 4, Daniel Swain, a climate scientist for the University of California Los Angeles, published a lengthy post on his blog, WeatherWest.com. In the post, Swain warned of  an extreme offshore wind and fire weather event in Southern California the coming days. Two days later, Swain posted a YouTube video where he again sounded alarm bells for...
