Big Box Energy in a Small Package: YETI LoadOut GoBox 1 Review
Big Box Energy in a Small Package: YETI LoadOut GoBox 1 Review
Nov 4, 2025 9:38 PM

YETI has a knack for taking the simplest gear and turning it into something fad-worthy. The new LoadOut GoBox 1 is just the next thing that people are going to need to have in several seasonal colors.

It is, at its core, a small hard case for your essentials, yet somehow feels over-engineered for a military expedition. Built from the same nearly indestructible Defender II material as the larger GoBoxes, this compact unit is waterproof, dustproof, and essentially everything-proof.

Whether it is strapped to a UTV, tossed in the bed of a pickup, or buried under camping gear, the GoBox 1 looks to keep everything protected and organized, if everything is just a handful of things.

In short: The YETI LoadOut GoBox 1 ($65) is rugged, overbuilt, heavier than you expect, and too expensive for what it is, which is exactly why youll probably love it.

(Photo/Rachelle Schrute) The GoBox 1 is exactly what it looks like: a hard, heavy little box that could take a serious beating. It feels solid in a way that makes you wonder what you could possibly do to break it. The latches snap tight, the seal holds firm, and it shuts with that satisfying YETI thud that tells you air and water are staying out.

Inside, its pretty straightforward. A simple tray, a silicone divider, and just enough room for the things you actually do not want to lose or soak. Think keys, a phone, or a handful of hunting tags. The tether strap feels like an afterthought until you use it. Once you hook it to an ATV, raft, or pack strap, I think itll make a lot more sense.

The strap that hooks across the back/bottom; (photo/Rachelle Schrute) Theres nothing fancy here, which is probably the point. It is built like a brick, keeps your gear dry, and weighs more than it should.

  Classic YETI.

  Whos Gonna Want One?

(Photo/YETI) The GoBox 1 makes sense for anyone who spends real time outside and is tired of wrecking small gear. Guides, anglers, and hunters who need a waterproof spot for keys, phones, or licenses will get the most from it. It also fits right in on a raft, UTV, or in the bed of a pickup.

If you are the kind of person who likes knowing your essentials are sealed away from dust, rain, and bad luck, this box will do the job. Its overbuilt, but thats part of its appeal.

What’s Wrong With It Its heavy for its size and costs too much for what it actually does. Theres no getting around that. Sixty-five bucks for a mini gear case feels steep, but it isnt actually too far off from what you see from other brands. The Pelican R40 Personal Ruck Utility Case is a very similar product and is actually just a bit more expensive. So, take that for what its worth.

It is also bulkier than it needs to be, which makes it less useful for pockets or small packs. The GoBox 1 is tough, but unless youre regularly dunking or abusing your gear, it might be more box than you really need.

  Final Thoughts

Big Box Energy in a Small Package: YETI LoadOut GoBox 1 Review5

(Photo/Rachelle Schrute) The YETI LoadOut GoBox 1 is overkill in the best possible way. Its probably a little too expensive, a little too heavy, and likely perfect for anyone who would rather buy once and never worry again.

Its YETI doing what YETI does best: making rugged gear you probably dont need but will definitely end up loving.
