Description

The Helle Alden is a mid-size knife with a secure grip for daily tasks. The Alden is an all-around knife with a classic design, shaped for medium to large hands. Its well-shaped curly birch handle is polished to a satin finish with a distinct fingerguard and stainless-steel bolster towards the blade.

The mid-size long blade has a slight drop point shape, and the steel used is Sandvik 12C27 with a classic scandi grind. A perfect steel for its toughness and corrosion resistance, well-suited for outdoor activities near the ocean.

Delivered with a sheath of genuine high-quality leather and a belt loop for secure carry on the belt.

Named after the dramatic and historic island Alden, a landmark used for thousands of years by fishermen and travelers finding their way back from the big ocean.

Robot Shoes, Cooling Shirts, and Inflatable Jackets: Nike Unveils ‘Innovation Engine’ Gear
Well, it looks like were one step closer to a cyberpunk future. On Thursday,Nike announced four new products to reaffirm a commitment to innovation of outdoor gear. Its big releases include a lightweight jacket that looks like an astronaut fashion show (and indeed, some athletes will be sporting at this winters Olympic Games), neuroscience-based shoes that aim to give athletes...
The Perfect-Sized Deer Hunting Pack: Badlands 2200 Backpack Review
It was 8:55 a.m., and I was trying my darndest to get out of the tree as quickly as possible. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast, I reminded myself. At the base of the tree, I took off my insulating jacket and bibs, put my climbing sticks together, and placed them in the Badlands 2200 backpack. With the cinch of...
For Chores That Never End: Woxna Ljusnan 10-In. Folding Saw
Folding saws can be something of an obsession for folks who cut and prune trees at home, camp, or on trail. In fact, I have amassed a bit of a collection over the years: an ARS 210DX for my day pack, a Silky Saws Gomboy Curve 240 Outback Edition for my multiday pack, an Agawa Canyon Boreal 24 saw for...
Sarah Perry Sets Women’s Backyard Ultra World Record
The original version of this story was published oniRunFar. This year’s edition of the race that started the backyard ultramarathon craze, the 2025 Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra, saw Sarah Perry of the U.K. set a new women’s record of 95 “yards,” totaling 395.8 miles (637.0 kilometers). Perry exceeded the prior women’s record of 87 yards, or 362 miles (583.3 kilometers),...
Always Sharp, Maintenance-Free: Leatherman ‘Rustle’ Kitchen Knife Review
I’ve always been the cook at home. Even as a kid, I liked making meals for my family that extended past the chicken nuggets and boxed mac and cheese that 90s kids grew up eating. This extended into my outdoor life, where I would bring camp potatoes and chicken or steak with me for long hikes and overnight adventures. Most...
A Shell Built for the Sharp End: The North Face Papsura Jacket Review
As we headed down into Smith Rock State Park, moody clouds swirled overhead. The rain was holding out for now, but we knew our weather window would be brief. Our objective was to do a short multi-pitch climb, so I stuffed my ultralight The North Face Papsura Jacket into a small pack to take up the route. Sure enough, drops...
Building a Lightweight Modular Campervan: Less Is More
I’ve spent decades shaving weight — grams off a bike build, scrutinizing pack weight before a climb. Weight kills performance. Every. Single. Time. But I didn’t truly understand how dramatically weight affects a vehicle until I drove my empty cargo van home from the dealer. The Lightbulb Moment This van had massively upgraded suspension, but it still didnt handle...
Coros Apex 4 Wants to Be Your Favorite Rock Climbing Smartwatch
Picture this, rockhounds: You walk up to a popular climbing crag, tap your watch, and immediately get a list of possible routes near you. Then you can select Outdoor climb, and head up a multipitch route while the watch clocks your approach, total pitches, and descent. Thats the climbing experience that Coros is aiming for with the Apex 4, the...
American Runner Wins Ultra Gobi 400 Km, Breaks Record by Over 4 Hours: Q&A With Cody Poskin
Cody Poskin woke up one morning shortly after hed completed the Cocodona 250 to a message hed received in the middle of the night. It was an invitation from a race hed never heard of called the Ultra Gobi 400 Km. The races organizers offered to comp his entry fee and travel to China if he was interested in participating...
1,000 Fill, Zero Frills: La Sportiva Lumina 200 Down Jacket Review
As I hiked through the cool fall air, surrounded by the golden, changing leaves, I barely registered the temperature. The crisp autumn air, which had dipped into the 30s, was no match for my La Sportiva Lumina 200 Down Jacket. For the October hike I was on, it was almost overkill. Half of this jackets weight is filled with 1,000...
