Mutant Nimsdai 90 (Spring 2023)
$247.46
Description

The Mutant Nimsdai 90 was created for Nepalese mountaineer and Osprey Ambassador Nirmal "Nims" Purja MBE and his team for their historic winter ascent of K2. Even in the most favorable summer climbing conditions, K2 has earned the reputation as the “Savage Mountain” and at 8,611 meters (28,251 feet), remained the only 8000-meter peak unclimbed during the winter season. In 2020, Nimsdai and his team became the first ever to summit K2 in the winter.

Tested in the harshest environment on one of the world’s toughest mountaineering objectives, the Mutant Nimsdai 90 is built to handle superior load carry in a streamlined pack that delivers stability when it matters most. A narrow profile, close-to-body carry and Osprey's superior fit makes for efficient and ultimately safer movement in the mountains.

Footprint sold separately.

What It Takes to Crew the Hardest Race on Earth
Just past midnight somewhere along the long road between Darwin and Lone Pine, California, driving a car littered with Cheez-It boxes, baby wipes, and crushed cans of energy drinks and coffee, Andrew Boyd tried to decide if he should tell Kaylee Frederick something important. As the crew chief of Frederick’s third consecutive Badwater 135 run, Boyd was the keeper of...
How (Literal) Pants-Wetting Anxiety Can Clarify Life, with Sierra Schlag
Throughout professional skier Sierra Schlag’s childhood, her Japanese heritage and cultural practices made her the target of racist bullying. Then, when she traveled to Japan to visit family as a child, and later as an adult, she was referred to as “Nisei”—a person born in North America whose parent(s) immigrated from Japan. She couldn’t make sense of being seen as...
What Happens When You Sit Around in Tight, Sweaty Clothes?
We’ve all been there. Your workout is over. Maybe you did some yoga or a HIIT session. But you have an errand or prior commitment that you cannot skipagain. Perhaps youre so exhausted that you dont feel like moving, let alone going home, peeling off your sweaty clothes, taking a shower, scrubbing down, washing your hair, and maybe shaving all...
Cyclists: Rivendell Has Crafted the Rear Derailleur of the Century
In May, I went for a ride on the Mount Tam trails in Marin County, California, with Grant Petersen, the founder and owner of Rivendell Bicycle Works, and his buddy Dan Leto. It was a warm and sunny Sunday morning. As we were unloading the bikes from Dan’s car at the trailhead (and Grant was working on a flat), an...
The Arkansas Adventure Series: Horseshoe Canyon Ranch
You could traipse all over the country looking for great riding, hiking, rock climbing, zip lining, and stargazing. Or you can park yourself in this Ozarks paradise and do it all in one place. And these are only a few reasons to check out Horseshoe Canyon Ranch in Arkansas—where adventure never ends. The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism...
Established Campgrounds Are Chaos—and I Love Them
We pulled into the Crescent City KOA around 10 P.M. After a long day exploring the nearby Redwood National and State Parks, my travel partner and I were beat—and pretty sure we had to be the last people awake in this quiet seaside town. Wrong. Rounding the corner into the rows of campers and tents, we were greeted by a...
David Blaine and Diana Nyad on the Art of Endurance
For decades, legendary magician David Blaine has completed record-breaking stunts that defy the impossible: He has held his breath for more than 17 minutes, was buried alive for seven days, frozen alive for three days, fasted for 44 days, caught a bullet fired from a gun in his mouth, and so much more. In his new National Geographic series David...
The FreeRun Leash Makes Running with My Dog a Breeze
I was out on the trail with my dog, Bailey, letting my mind turn off and wander, when I saw another dog and its owner we didn’t know coming towards us. I had Bailey off-leash, and as a courtesy, I started fumbling to get her leash on her before our encounter. Before I could get Bailey clipped in, I looked...
The Arkansas Adventure Series: Devil’s Den State Park
If you like being outside and exploring in nature, we know the state for you: Arkansas. We sent the Arkansas Field Team on a mission to explore the best of The Natural State. Mission accomplished. Check out Devils Den State Park, and see what you can discover where adventure never ends. The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism protects...
Legacy Optics Reign Supreme: Smith I/O Mag ChromaPop Ski Goggles Review
A big winter storm descended on Vail’s back bowls, stopping me in my tracks. Light in the treeless China Bowl went completely flat — my ski goggles became even more essential. Snow swirled around me. It was impossible to distinguish the sky from the slope. For possibly the first time in my 30 years of skiing, I stopped mid-run to...
The Arkansas Adventure Series: Buffalo National River
There’s a reason this Arkansas waterway was designated as America’s first National River in 1972. Adventure never ends when youre floating down the scenic Buffalo National River. The freeflowing river is a playground for water lovers and a refuge for anyone who wants to experience a primal slice of Ozarks nature. The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism protects and...
