Peak Light 38 S (Fall 2022)
$157.50
Description

The Peak Light 38 S is Ortovox's alpine lightweight and your companion for demanding alpine tours. It is extremely light, technical and functional thanks to a climate-controlling SWISSWOOL TEC KNIT back system. With a packing volume of 38 liters, this backpack provides sufficient space for multi-day ski tours – without compromising on comfort.

The Peak Light 38 S alpine touring backpack is specially tailored for people with shorter backs and thus sits perfectly. This backpack is very robust yet incredibly light thanks to the use of particularly tear and abrasion resistant Nylon 420D Oxford material. This nylon fabric is one of the lightest materials that Ortovox uses for their backpacks. The material is also water-resistant thanks to its PU coating.

The triangular construction of the lid allows for variable adjustment with rope fastening without slippage. The lid is completely removable or storable in the main compartment. When stored in the main compartment, the lid’s zipper can still be easily opened. The lid compartment has two sections. Taped seams make the lid completely waterproof.

And Ortovox has integrated additional important features: The Peak Light comes with a rope and ice axe fixation, load control cords, helmet net, material loops, hip pocket, a map compartment and a circumferential zipper for quick, front access to the main compartment. Safety equipment is held securely inside by means of a safety attachment. In addition, standard Ortovox pack features include an emergency card, chest strap with signal whistle, compression strap, bright interior color, hydration system compatibility and a ski holder. These clever features, low weight and the innovative back system make the Peak Light a highly functional alpine touring backpack where doing without means greater functionality.

    SWISSWOOL-TEC-KNIT back system
The SWISSWOOL-TEC-KNIT BACK SYSTEM stands for the innovative synthesis of a TECHNICAL FOAM BACK with HEAT-PRESSED SWISS WOOL covered with a 3D HIGH-TECH KNITTED FABRIC. The wool pads are used in the zones that come into contact with the back, storing large volumes of moisture without feeling wet.

    SCALED DOWN TO REDUCE WEIGHT
The PEAK LIGHT combines STABILITY, WEAR COMFORT and a LIGHT WEIGHT. The total weight of 1100 g* can be reduced by a further 380 g* by simply removing the TOP, HIP FINS, WIRE FRAME FOR THE BACK and other external fastening options. A minimal 720 grams* of weight thus widens the range of use, from long alpine tours to pitch after alpine pitch.

    * +/- 4% due to production and material fluctuations.

Hard Wear, No Tear: Zamberlan 1996 Voiz Lux Hiking Boot Review
The mud, creek crossings, and patches of snow were unavoidable as we squished along the trail using our poles for balance. Our A-framed skis stuck up amid the surrounding willow bushes. Ahead, we could see our snow-covered objective, still miles away. I glanced down at my mud-caked Zamberlan 1996 Voiz Lux Hiking Boots — an upgrade to the original launched in...
Scout Motors Returns: But Can It Electrify the Market?
Whether the new off-road-ready Scout Terra and Traveler can find a niche is far from certain, especially considering they’re both all-electric. Scout does have time to build expectations, however, with the two new EVs not expected to reach U.S. showrooms for another 2 years. Once a market mainstay, it’s been more than 4 decades since Scout was available in the...

The Best Ski Brands of 2024
Skiing is unapologetically addictive. Nothing compares to floating through deep snow, skimming across a crisply groomed trail, or summiting a peak in the wilderness. Each pair of sticks is strategically designed to serve winter athletes in their specific goals. But todays volume of brands can be overwhelming to navigate, even for experienced carvers. Learning the origins of a ski brand,...

Segway’s ZT3 Pro Is the Adventure Mobile We’ve Been Waiting For
They say stress is the silent killer. Not so silent? The blaring horns and eeking brakes that dominate Los Angeles’ roadways on any given afternoon. While L.A. traffic is a colossal cliché, the frequency that a 4-mile journey winds up taking 40 minutes has undoubtedly shaved minutes off my life. With urban congestion on the rise and major cities like...
