Ponderosa MF
$720.00 - $765.00
Description

  A big warm semi-rectangular bag with 7" of loft; 15° F

If you're on the larger side, or you just don't like being stuffed into a narrow mummy bag, the Western Mountaineering Ponderosa MF is the way to go. Sporting 67 inches of girth at the shoulder and 48 inches at the foot, the Ponderosa offers acres of comfort for a full three seasons; depending on your size, you can enjoy this sleeping bag down to 15º F (the bigger you are, the warmer it will feel). The Ponderosa MF zips to any Western Mountaineering mummy bag, and if the nights are really mild, unzip the bag around the foot and mate it with their Summer Coupler. The Ponderosa is also available in a 7' length.

Like all of Western Mountaineering's bags, the Ponderosa MF is made by hand in San Jose, California. Their down is sourced from free-range mother geese who are never live-plucked or force-fed.

Footprint sold separately.

Bill Lowens 2024 season brought nothing but turmoil, but he kicked 2025 off strong on Sunday, taking home his second career win in the first tournament of his 20th season. Last year, Lowen struggled on the Bassmaster Elite Series. When everything was said and done, he was in 84th place in the 2024 Angler of the Year points standings. Known...
Editors’ Picks: Best Winter Gear from ‘Outdoor Market Alliance’ Show
Snow swirled all around Denver, causing road closures, flight delays, and general travel chaos as brands and journalists descended upon the Mile High City for this years Outdoor Market Alliance (OMA) winter media show. The vibes were high as GearJunkie ping-ponged from one showroom to another, one meeting to the next. There was a smorgasbord of rad gear — new...
Supertramp Debuts Hard-Side Camper: Flagship HT Shaves Weight, Tackles All Seasons
Supertramp Campers built its reputation on high-quality, carbon-fiber shell, pop-up truck campers. The brands original designed challenged the RV industry’s focus on comparably cheap materials. Now, Colorado-based Supertramp expands into the hard-sided camper market with the Flagship HT, a lightweight, insulated design for full-size trucks. This marks Supertramp’s first entry into the hard-side segment, following the success of its LT...
World’s Hardest Rock Climb? Six New Moves Create Baffling Route
Italys Excalibur route begins by stepping off a boulder onto the wall. Italian climber Stefano Ghisolfi started investigating the potential moves below the top of the boulder, which would produce a direct start. Ghisolfi believes this low start is harder than any move on Excalibur, and he grades this section V14. This V14 would link to a V13, then into...
I Ran Without a Watch for a Month. It Completely Changed My Running.
The first training runs I ever did were bare-wristed. I was in sixth grade, at my middle school’s cross-country practice. Our coach told us to run a lap around the school, maybe three-quarters of a mile. I sauntered around with my friends, unencumbered by any pressure to perform, as our coach smoked a cigarette in the parking lot. Eventually, we...
Climb Confidently, Comfortably: Scarpa Drago XT Rock Shoe Review
Given that GearJunkie already crowned the Scarpa Drago the best climbing shoe for steep routes and boulders, it was a surprise when the Drago XT showed up in the mail. I couldnt see how Scarpa could improve such a beloved, high-performing shoe, or why it would introduce another Drago model that could sully the line. So, I put myself on...

Base Truck, Big Upgrades: 2025 Toyota Tundra SR5 TRD Rally Package Review
Barreling through a washboard rough patch of dirt road, the Tundra easily glides over the bumps and provides a cushy ride. But this isn’t a TRD Pro. In fact, the SR5 trim ranks just one above the base SR. It offers spartan amounts of luxury and nearly no off-road equipment. Yet, courtesy of the $8,660 TRD Rally Package, I’m rolling...
What Happens When Yosemite SAR Can’t Hire Rescuers?
Nate Vince, the suddenly famous Yosemite locksmith who lost his job thanks to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)’s recent slew of layoffs, texted me while hanging off the side of El Capitan on Saturday afternoon: “Yeah, Buddy, we’re up here! The teamwork to get this done was unreal.” I reached out to Vince as a friend of a friend...

Authorities have suspended the search after 3 days of extensive efforts. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on Sunday during the Game Fishing Associations state tournament near Port Stephens. Barning, an experienced fisherman and secretary of...
‘Miracle’ Backpack Saves Father and Son Stranded On a Cliff
Luck comes in many forms, but for a father and son hiking in Utahs Snow Canyon on February 17, it came in the form of an abandoned backpack. Stuck overnight high up on a canyon ledge, Julian Hernandez and his 12-year-old son would have had a different outcome had it not been for someone elses misfortune, said Sergeant Jacob Paul with...
Shiffrin’s Historic Victory: The G.O.A.T. Reaches 100 World Cup Wins
Mikaela Shiffrin made history this weekend. On Sunday, February 23, the 29-year-old downhill ski racer became the first person to break into the FIS Downhill World Cup triple-digit club when she bagged her 100th race win in Sestriere, Italy. For perspective, the next most accomplished, actively competing alpine skier is Lara Gut-Behrami of Switzerland, with 46 wins. The previous record...
