Tom Newberry writes about a classic of the West Country with a storied past: Bosigran Ridge, AKA Commando Ridge... When you are on page 1 of the AA UK road atlas and you are parked in the shadow of an old tin mine, there is only one place you can be: Cornwall. Bosigran, probably the most popular of the Cornish...

Commonly referred to as supershoes, this innovative footwear employs high-rebound foams and curved, rigid plates to enhance running efficiency while minimizing muscle damage. Simply put, these high-performance shoes are engineered to make you run faster with greater ease. And they...

How Everest Was Turned into an Industry
When Will Cockrell told me he was writing a book about Mount Everest, he couldn’t see the roll of my eyes. But he’s perceptive enough to have picked up on my lukewarm commitment to being interviewed, and so I felt a need to explain that there are already quite a few Everest books out there. My coffee table is in...

Avalanches Caught 117 People in Colorado in 2024. Why Did Only Two Die?
Back in December 2023, Colorado was mired with a miserable snowpack. The ski resorts were barely open and a thin layer of rotten snow blanketed the surface of the alpine. Our editors speculated that once the storm door began to open and coverage improved, the pent-up demand in the country’s most dangerous state for avalanches would lead to a high number...
Streamlined and Refined: Holosun HE508T-GR X2 Review
Red dots and reflex sights provide a host of advantages for turkey guns, and I would argue that improved accuracy tops the list. Sure, running a traditional bead gives you peace of mind, and you don’t have to worry about a battery dying. It’s as simple as point and shoot, right? But what if your gun’s point of impact isn’t...

And if there’s any part of your kit you shouldn’t cut corners with, it’s your bedding. The scenery always looks that much nicer after a good night of sleep. The good news about shopping for sleeping...

The 21 Wildest East Coast Beaches
If you’ve ever lived along the East Coast, there’s a secret that all curious, outdoorsy people soon discover: the wildest, most deserted places are often those abutting the Atlantic. That’s right, the best East Coast beaches can be every bit as remote-feeling as Western landscapes. This is easier to comprehend when you realize that the East Coast has roughly 30,000...
