Quick Take Review: 2025 Nissan Murano
The fourth-generation Nissan Murano has arrived. This crossover has evolved a lot over its 22 years on the market, getting bigger, more refined, and more luxurious. It is made specifically for the North American market. And, Nissan says the vehicle is targeted at older people, many empty nesters, that want a high seating position and is an easy to get...
‘Shortcut’ Strands Jeep Driver on CA Ski Resort
Shortcuts often end up becoming the long way around. One man suspected on driving under the influence learned that fact the hard way on Monday, Dec. 16, when he tried taking a shortcut to his hotel — by driving across a ski resort. The man, whose identity has not been released by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), got stuck in...
A Tale of Two Records on the Arizona Trail
If you want to set a fastest known time on the 817-mile Arizona Trail, you have to start fast. At least, that’s what both Nick Fowler and Georgia Porter proved this fall. On October 28, they independently set out from the Utah-Arizona border and started their trek south with the goal of setting a record. While Fowler was traveling in...
Run Clubs Over Night Clubs: Gear and Trends From Strava 2024 Year-End Report
The folks at Strava get a lot of data on users exercise habits and trends. Every year, it compiles all that information, assesses and analyzes it, and releases its Year in Sport: Trend Report announcing the findings. This month, it released the report for 2024. Many of the findings caught us by surprise — and in a good way. This...
Why Shopping at Your Local Running Store Matters
If you run, you’re a runner. It doesn’t matter what pace you run or how long you go, but it does matter where you buy your running shoes. There are a lot of places to buy running shoes nowadays—at a big sporting goods shop, at a mall chain store, at an online retailer, at a discount website or at a...

The Worst National-Parks Reviews of the Year
Described as “America’s best idea,” the National Park System was established in large part to protect the nation’s most precious landscapes, from the deepest canyons to the tallest peaks. Some of the parks are so dang beautiful, they’ve been known to make people contemplate their own existence. But not everyone traveling to a national park is moved to existential enlightenment....
Last-Minute Gifts from a Bad Uncle
It’s less than a week until Christmas. If you’re anything like me—a childlike adult living kid-free—that means you might have just enough time to get a gift to your nieces, nephews, and friends’ offspring sometime before January. Two years ago, I wrote a piece explaining my program of purchasing children the most dangerous, parent-annoying knives, motorcycles, and archery gear possible. But since...
Ease Your Tired Feet with These 9 Best Recovery Shoes, Slides, and Sandals
If you’re a runner, walker, yogi, rock climber, or participant in nearly any active pastime, your feet endure a tremendous load, making your choice of footwear critical. While most people spend hours researching the perfect workout shoes, they give far less attention to their recovery shoes—what they wear after the workout session is over. Neglecting your feet after a workout...
When It’s Time to Replace Your Running Shoes
When this assignment hit my inbox, my first thought was: I am 100 percent going to find out that I need to buy new running shoes. I jog a few times a week and haven’t replaced my Hoka Clifton 9’s since 2023. The chunky, cushioned sole that Hokas are known for has been flattened by months of trail running, and...
