More on the Brand Midland Radio Corporation began in 1959, as a Kansas City company making two-way radios, weather radios, and emergency radios. It was the first CB (Citizens Band) radio manufacturer in the United States and, more recently, has moved into FRS (Family Radio Service) and GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) radios. It also produces weather radios with NOAA weather alerts and emergency radios.

These devices, and several accessories, provide communications across large expanses of land. They are popular among ranchers, construction workers, hunters, overlanders, and other outdoor recreationists.
