Its a new rooftop platform rack system from Küat. The Küat DEK is more than just another platform rack, though. Its sleek custom extrusion T-channel design helps it stand out. The optional integrated LED lighting, though, will really grab your attention.
Küat DEK Looks Tough Sleek
(Photo/Küat) We first saw the Küat DEK at the SEMA show last year, where we named it one of our top products. Motors Editor Bryon Dorr was impressed by its low-profile T-channel extrusion design, which gives it good looks but also delivers versatile accessory mountings.
The production DEK keeps the sleek, low-profile design that helps cut wind noise (when empty, at least) while looking stylish. Because roof platforms are about more than just how they look, though; its made entirely from aluminum and steel. The DEK can support up to 300 pounds, and its designed to be happy carrying rooftop tents or cargo boxes on long trips.
Thanks to the T-channels, you can fit a massive range of accessories and mounts. Küats own options include bike racks and mounts for almost any outdoor activity accessory, and it even offers truck bed racks that can mount the DEK on top for even more flexibility.
The Küat DEKs crossbars can also move, letting you slide them around for different cargo accessories or to work around sunroofs, antennas, and other design elements on the top of your rig.
Integrated Lighting Direct Fitment
(Photo/Küat) The integrated lightbar accessory comes with five LED units from Diode Dynamics. The optional lights deliver more than 15,000 lumens of off-road or campsite illumination. Theyre also designed to aim over the front of your hood so the light is useful and not shining off your own rig.
Right now, Küat offers three direct-fit rack options. The first options are the fifth-gen (2010-2024) Toyota 4Runner, the latest Toyota Tacoma Double Cab, and the 2005-2023 Tacoma Double Cab. Using the factory mount points makes installation quicker, easier, and safer, so were glad to hear there will be more applications coming.
Loads of Available Sizes
(Photo/Küat) If your rig is not on that list, Küat makes the DEK in multiple sizes for crossbar mounting. It has 47- and 54-inch-wide racks. The narrow rack is offered in 50- or 60-inch long versions, while the wider rack (coming soon) is available in 61-, 71-, or 81-inch-long versions.
Pricing for the 47-inch crossbar rack starts from $898. The largest 5481 rack is $1,098. If you want to add the lights, its $849 for narrow models and $898 for wide.
Direct-fit Küat DEK models are a bit pricier. The 2024-2025 Tacoma rack is $1,098, and the larger 4Runner version is $1,449. Add lights to the 4Runner unit and youre up to $2,200. The Küat DEK is on sale now.
