LEKI, best known for its trekking and skiing poles, is now looking to further boost its profile in the winter sports world. The German brand just dropped its first-ever collection of gloves and mittens, specifically tailored for backcountry skiing and mountaineering.
The Montera line boasts ultimate comfort and warmth with materials like goatskin, merino wool, Primaloft, and GORE-TEX. Heres the rundown.
LEKI Montera Backcountry Gloves The Montera line has four different gloves, each for a different type of customer.
At the pinnacle of warmth and protection, theres the Montera Xtreme GTX ($210), which the brand claims are among the very warmest gloves it makes.
With goatskin leather, Primaloft Gold insulation, and a waterproof GORE-TEX membrane, they are ideal for those who enjoy spinning laps on the lift while the snow is falling 2 inches per hour, according to the brand.

Theyve got the same leather and insulation as the Montera Xtreme, but in a slimmed-down, water-resistant package that offers a bit less bulk. Its also touchscreen-compatible and employs a handy nose-wiper for high-output, frigid days. The Xtreme and Prime are available in sizes 7 to 11.
Womens-Specific Gloves The brand also kept women and those with smaller hands in mind, releasing a womens version of the Montera Prime ($170), as well as a mitt version ($170).
The mitts have individual finger channels, which provide a thin layer of material between the fingers to help whisk away moisture, keeping your hands drier and, therefore, warmer for long days on the mountain, according to LEKI.
The womens models are available in four half-sizes from 7 to 8.5.

The extended cuff offers extra protection against cold and moisture. LEKIs Montera mitts and gloves just launched and are available for purchase now.
