Worried about finding a slide-in camper for the complex angled bed of the Tesla Cybertruck? Worry no more. Phoenix Pop Up Campers has just designed a unit made specifically not just to fit the angled lines of the Tesla truck but also to match its aesthetic.
(Photo/Phoenix Campers) If You Like the Look of the Truck, Youll Love This Camper Like it or hate it, the speed-square shape of the Tesla Cybertruck makes things tough for the aftermarket. For decades, nearly every truck box has been a rectangle with an even bedside height. The Cybertrucks is, well, not that.
The CyberPhoenix is designed to fit that unconventional bed. It is designed with some sharp angles of its own that let the slide-in camper fit into the back of the Cybertruck. Not only does it fit, but the angled front and rear also help match the Cybertrucks styling — including that windshield rake — instead of looking like a conventional slide-in that had a run-in with a reciprocating saw.
Because the low-profile camper doesnt stick up far above the roofline, range should be minimally affected as you drive. It will also fit in a 7-foot garage if the suspension is at medium height or lower, though not dropping it is a mistake youll only make once.
Using the odd angle at the front of the truck box lets Phoenix put more storage space under the dinette and under the bed, making the most of the unusual design.
(Photo/Phoenix Campers) Sorry — Its Aluminum, Not Stainless The exterior isnt stainless steel like the truck. Its polished aluminum instead. It gives the camper a matching look but is much lighter than stainless, which is important when adding a heavy camper in the back.
Inside, youll find sleeping for four and what the company calls a spacious dinette. There is a 20-pound propane tank mounted in the passenger side storage with a 6-gallon water heater on the drivers side. The camper has 20 gallons of fresh water storage, but no grey or black tanks.
It uses a portable toilet instead of one thats plumbed in. Theres also a Sobo Bullfinch shower fixture that lets you shower inside as well as the option to shower outside.
(Photo/Phoenix Campers) CyberPhoenix Camper Brings Its Own Juice While it can pull power from the Cybertrucks massive battery, in most situations, it doesnt. Its 800W of solar on the roof and a 400Ah battery supply the camper unless you want to use the trucks pack. It has propane cabin heating because the Colorado-based Phoenix understands that very cold weather can tax the trucks battery, so you may not want to use it.
(Photo/Phoenix Campers) The camper does introduce a few new complexities to the Cybertruck experience. The first buyer, YouTuber Cybertruck One, shows that the extra overhang means the standard Tesla charging cable is barely long enough, with the covered-up backup camera not helping you get up close and personal with the charging station.
CyberPhoenix: Taking Orders Now
(Photo/Phoenix Campers) Phoenix is known for its custom campers and has built slide-ins for other electric pickups already. But those trucks werent as extreme as the Cybertruck, requiring a complete reimagining versus any other truck. Phoenix is taking orders now and expecting summertime deliveries. Starting MSRP for the CyberPhoenix slide-in truck camper is $59,900.
