Ready for the Rocks: 2026 Can-Am Maverick R X rc Gets 35s and More Trail Goodies

The Can-Am Maverick R has been a performance monster since its launch in 2024. The dune-jumper and desert-eating UTVs 240-horsepower turbocharged engine and fancy suspension has made it the baddest around when you want to go fast.

Now, Can-Am is making a model for drivers who want to go a bit slower and tackle serious rocky terrain. But dont worry, the 2026 Can-Am Maverick R X rc will have no less horsepower.

King of Hammers Know-How for Every Ride

(Photo/Can-Am) Can-Am builds the X rc package for rock-crawling. All of the things that Can-Am has learned from conquering the King of the Hammers have been combined to help create this slow-moving, high-horsepower UTV.

It starts with an extra low-range gear in the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Thats the same gear-driven transmission as the standard R, so theres no belt to worry about when youre struggling to get over rocks. Its just the size of the gears inside that changes.

The new Smart-Lok front differential includes a Rock mode that optimizes front grip and maneuverability when you need traction and helps you navigate tight boulder gaps.

35s on a Stock UTV Is a First

The X rc comes with 16-inch beadlock wheels that carry truck-sized 35-inch–tall tires. Thats the biggest stock tire youll find anywhere, and 3 inches taller than a standard Maverick R. The Hammer King tires are meant to help you get through the worst almost any trail has to offer.

Other extras include a Fox steering damper and protective extras like a heavy-duty plastic skid plate, rock sliders, A-arm protectors, and an anti-intrusion bar. If you can keep your hands and feet inside the ride, it should keep the rocks out.

The standard suspension is Fox 2.5 Podium RC2 shocks up front and 3.0-inch Fox shocks in the back. An optional upgrade swaps that with Smart-Shox live valve compression and rebound-damping adjustability on all four corners. Suspension travel, like with the Maverick R, is 25 inches in the front and 26 inches in the back, with 17 inches of ground clearance.

(Photo/Can-Am) Power comes from a 999cc turbo-3 shared with the Maverick R. The 240-horsepower engine and ultra-low first gear mean tons of torque when youre crawling, but a high-range that should let you fly when you want to.

The 2026 Can-Am Maverick R X rc starts from $47,999, or $51,499 for the four-door Max. Thats $8,500 more than a standard R, but it does include those massive tires, the Rock mode differential, and a JL audio sound system to help you with the radio dial crawling.

(Photo/Can-Am) Could you get into a Ranger and maybe even a Ranger Raptor for that price? Maybe, but it wont be as usable on the trail or as fun. The X rc is available to build on Can-Ams site now.
