Iconic ultramarathoner Courtney Dauwalter is known for her grin-and-bear-it attitude when shes running the ultra worlds toughest races. In 2023, the Salomon athlete launched a collaboration running short called the ‘Shortney, which sported Dauwalters trademark 8-inch inseam and oversized feel.
This year, the collab returns with fresh designs and gear to tackle gnarly distance efforts, a trail shoe, hydration vest, a new Shortney color scheme, and a T-shirt. Everything ties back to Dauwalters experiences as an ultrarunner — in more ways than you might expect.
“It’s part grit, part hallucination. These designs celebrate that journey,” she said, referring to her well-documented affinity for what she calls the pain cave.

(Photo/Salomon) The big additions to the collection include an S/LAB Genesis 2 Limited Courtney Edition. This unisex technical trail running shoe sports an aggressive 8mm drop, plush cushioning, Kevlar-threaded Matryx upper, and Salomons popular quick-lace system.
Complementing the kit is a specially designed Sense Pro 6 Limited Courtney Edition running vest. It can accommodate two 500mL soft flasks and has 6 L of storage for fast-pack efforts up to 100km.
Of course, the iconic baggy shorts return, along with a technical T-shirt, both with bold colors, graphics, and a recurring peace sign motif, which highlights a piece of Dauwalter’s story.

(Photo/Salomon) “Before my first 100-mile finish, my mom gave me a peace sign coin with the message, ‘You’re stronger than you think,’” she said. She carried the coin in the race, and has continued to carry it with her on race days.
That little sprinkle of belief can be the exact thing we all need to push through the toughest moments.
