Camp Self-Inflating Mat
$78.95 - $98.95
Description

Back to basics, no frills sleeping mat that offers great comfort

The Camp Self Inflating mat is a durable option for the adventurer who wants quality and some serious bang for their buck. Utilizing the multi function valve, this mat deflates incredibly fast and there's no fighting re-inflation during pack up. Delta Core-V™ technology removes weight and bulk without compromising comfort and the durable face fabric will withstand some good tough adventuring. It's your back to basics, no frills, sleeping mat that offers great comfort for your backpacking adventures. The proprietary PillowLock™ system prevents your Aeros™ Pillow from slipping (pillow sold separately).

As of January 1 2020, all sleeping mat manufacturers will test mats for R-Value in independent labs using the ASTM standard F3340-18. Having one test standard provides clarity and transparency to consumers and allows comparisons across brands. Since the standard was published, Sea to Summit has continued to work with other sleeping mat manufacturers and with accredited labs to ensure that the testing is accurate and representative of actual mat performance.

The new test protocol will see some changes to previously published R-Values. It’s important to note that where values do change, it doesn’t signify a drop or increase in warmth—it simply means they have been tested using a slightly different scale.

The packaging of some mats will still carry the previous R-Value, but the mat itself has not changed.

Footprint sold separately.

SI MULTI-FUNCTION VALVE
Sea to Summit has literally put a new twist on their very successful multi-function valve so it specifically addresses the inherent characteristic of self-inflating mats - that is, the problem of the foam trying to re-inflate as you're packing up. They've engineered the "one-way" inflation valve to be reversed and used to prevent the mat from drawing air back in. This allows you to roll the mat up as small as possible without fighting re-inflation as you go. This patent-pending valve design has the same slim profile, faster inflation than traditional screw valves, easy pressure fine tuning, and super fast deflation rate as their air mattresses and pillows.
DELTA CORE-V™
In Sea to Summit's lighter SI air mat models, they have removed 20% of the weight and bulk of the PU foam by using the vertical Delta Core-V™ method. They use sophisticated pressure mapping data that becomes the blueprint for the distinctive graduated core pattern.
Where extra warmth and support is needed for the body contact areas - shoulders, hips, and feet - the core holes are smaller. In the less critical areas, Sea to Summit has removed more foam to minimize the weight and packed size. Delta Core-V™ technology is used in the Ultra Light SI and Camp Mat SI models.
EXTRUSION LAMINATION
Extrusion lamination is common in the medical and aeronautical industries, but Sea to Summit pioneered its use in outdoor products. Liquid Thermoplastic Urethane is applied to the face fabric through an extrusion head, where it bonds permanently. The result: Sea to Summit sleeping mats are more reliable and longer-lasting.

Climb Upstate NY’s First Via Ferrata With Us: A New Way to Experience the Shawangunks
It’s a distraction mechanism. My knees are clacking, my mouth has gone dry, and it’s all I can do to muffle the screams inside my head. But here I am, buckled into a harness and clipped by a carabiner into a cable that stretches across the rocky face of Eagle Cliff in the Shawangunk Mountains of Upstate New York. Someone...
Overtourism Is Out of Control. Here Are the New Rules of Travel.
I was in Hawaii with a group of friends, and a local screamed at us to go home. The island was overcrowded, and while I know tourists can be obnoxious and disrespectful, we were being conscientious. I don’t want to give up visiting the world’s most beautiful places, but I also don’t want to add to overtourism. Can I continue...
Best in Show: Award-Winning Gear From Outdoor Retailer Summer 2024
Salt Lake City’s Salt Palace was alive and bustling this week as hundreds of members of brands, retailers, and media gathered for the annual Outdoor Retailer (OR) Summer 2024 show. Since OR left Denver in 2021 and returned to Salt Lake, the largest and most recognizable brands — Patagonia, YETI, Marmot, The North Face, and others — have declined to...
fizik Launches One-to-One: Custom-Printed Bicycle Saddles Based on Pressure Mapping
The longer the ride distance or greater the overall cycling volume, the more critical the touchpoints on a bicycle are. Gender, body dimensions and shape, rider flexibility, specific riding postures, and other highly individual factors make having the perfect fit at the handlebars, pedals, and saddle difficult. Throw in personal preference, and the optimal fit seems like a minuscule target....

In 2020, Curtis—unemployed after COVID-19 ravaged the veterinary office where she worked, her longtime struggles with mental health...
Kai Lightner Thinks We Can Do Better
Though he’s just 24 years old, Kai Lightner has been a kitchen-table name in the rock climbing world for more than a decade. After years of steady performance in the competitive youth circuit, Lightner took the outdoor world by storm in the spring of 2013, when during a four-week period he sent his first four 5.14s—including Southern Smoke (5.14c). He’s...

Can You Be a Beef-Loving Environmentalist?
I like a good burger as much as the next girl. This past weekend at a family cookout, I indulged in a damn good one. But each delicious beefy bite brought with it a bitter aftertaste. You see, I’m an environmentalist hell-bent on making daily choices that support a healthy planet. And beef, I’m sure you’ve heard, has a hefty...
How to Run in the Heat Like the Pros
After a few pleasant hours sitting in the sun watching the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon last month, I headed down into the bowels of Hayward Field for a grueling test for running in the heat. Chris Minson, a professor of human physiology at the University of Oregon, had invited me to try the heat adaptation protocol he has developed...
