  Clips to a carabiner

Everyone needs a little knife and a way to carry it. The diminutive Trango Piranha clips to a key ring or a carabiner so you can easily take where you need to go. The blade is machined from surgical quality 440-C stainless with a serrated blade—just what you need to peel duct tape off your shoes or dig a splinter out of the palm of your hand. The locking blade can be opened and closed with one hand, but it’s absolutely impossible to open when clipped to a full-size carabiner. Bottle opener included.

Footprint sold separately.

Prosthetics on Peaks: Meet the Pro Skier Leading Folks to New Heights
Pro skier and Mountain Hardwear athlete Rachael Burks brings electric, ball-lightning enthusiasm to the slopes. I witnessed it first-hand in Jackson Hole, Wyo., in March, when I backcountry skied with her in Grand Teton National Park. She never stops beaming, laughs infectiously, and, of course, shreds so hard itll bring a tear to your eye to watch. Its no wonder...

Evidently, Im not the only one. A pricey, limited-edition motorcycle from boutique French brand DAB Motors features controls inspired by this...

The Best Trails Around Asheville, According to a Local Hiker
Sandra Aguirre didn’t mean to create a movement. At first, she was just trying to help herself and her family. In an effort to heal from her divorce, she began spending more time outside with her three kids, hiking and searching for waterfalls throughout the mountains of western North Carolina, especially in the scenic terrain around Asheville. “Going through the...
The Best Jumper Cables of 2024
It happens to the best of us sometimes. You accidentally leave your headlights on, your battery loses its charge, and you need to jumpstart your vehicle. Or you have a vehicle battery older than four years, and it’s not up to the task of holding a charge for too long. Or, you live in a really cold environment and dont...
Ram CEO Says ‘Tear It Up’: Cringeworthy Off-Road Truck Ad Moment
More and more vehicles are getting the ruggedized treatment and/or being created for real off-road adventures. Advertising around such vehicles continues to push the boundaries of responsible off-road use in the name of hyping a product. I have a marketing degree, so I fully understand the need to show off and build excitement around a new product launch. Im also...

Hiking Rewired My Brain. It Can Do the Same to Yours.
If the cab fare to the southern end of the Pacific Crest Trail cost $1,000, so be it: I was not going to spend an hour crowded into a van grousing about the world with a hiker named Honest Abe. Abe and I had met on the Appalachian Trail in 2019, and it did not take much conversation for us...
