Carry More Stuff, Look More Rugged in Adventurous EV: 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland

Toyota has just launched its third electric SUV this week, and this one is for adventurers. The 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland is a larger crossover with more ground clearance and more towing capacity than the brands smaller EVs. Its also going to be a lot more powerful.

  Toyota bZ Woodland Is Big

(Photo/Toyota) Earlier this week, Toyota revamped the bZ4X into the bZ, and launched a new electric C-HR. This third model means that late-to-the-EV-party Toyota suddenly has more all-electric offerings than Ford and nearly as many as Hyundai, both of which have been selling EVs for a decade.

The 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland is long. Its 6 inches longer than the standard bZ, putting it closer to the Toyota Highlander in overall length. But unlike that bigger SUV, this one is still a two-row with more than 30 cubic feet of cargo space and more room for back seat passengers.

  Rugged Design and Big Horsepower

(Photo/Toyota) Toyotas bZ Woodland (the bZ is for beyond Zero, Toyotas green branding) shares its styling with the bZ. That includes the Prius-like nose that Toyota describes as a Hammerhead. But this one is much more rugged, with fake skid plates, bulky fender flares, and a very chunky roof rack on top.

With two-motor AWD standard, the Woodland delivers 375 horsepower. The 74.7kWh battery is the same size as the normal bZ, so the larger size and standard AWD cut into its range here — 260 miles, Toyota estimates.

It will have the NACS charge plug, as well as Plug Charge capability. Toyota says 10% to 80% takes around 30 minutes when fast charging. It also supports up to 11 kW when Level 2 charging.

  Woodland Can Tow Small Trailers

(Photo/Toyota) The Woodland can tow up to 3,500 pounds, impressive for a smaller electric crossover and enough for small camping trailers. It has 8.3 inches of ground clearance, about the same as a Toyota RAV4. Toyota will also offer all-terrain tires for drivers who plan on spending more time off pavement.

There will only be one trim level for the 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland. Toyotas SofTex seats with heating for both front chairs come standard, and it will have a 14-inch screen with Toyotas latest infotainment software. An optional Premium Package adds JBL audio, panoramic moonroof, and vented front seats.

If the bZ Woodland feels familiar, thats because it is. Just like Toyota shares with Subaru to build the bZ and Solterra (and the GR86 and BRZ sports cars), this too is offered with a Pleiades badge on the nose. In that form, its called the Subaru Trailseeker.

The Toyota bZ Woodland is set to go on sale in early 2026. Expect pricing and more details shortly before it hits stores.
