Lightning 45 - Men's
$149.21 - $209.95
Description

The Exped Lightning 45 is a refined lightweight pack for any multi-day backpacking adventure where minimal weight and functionality are essential. It offers outstanding comfort, freedom of movement and load-bearing stability.

The functional roll-top maximizes weatherproofing and allows expansion of the main compartment to accommodate extra gear when needed. Side pockets made of elastic fabric can be used to store items such as water bottles as well as trekking poles or tent poles. Zippered pockets on the hip belt on top of the pack provide even more quick-access storage space.

Side zig-zag compression straps and a webbing strap that runs across the backpack with quick-release buckles keep gear like a mat or tent fly securely in place. Those who use the Lightning for mountaineering can attach ice tools to the designated loops and central daisy chain.

The suspension system is fully length-adjustable and can be easily configured to fit the length of your back. The extremely lightweight material is water-repellent and PFC-free.

Footprint sold separately.

Dartmoor Bouldering - Gems in a Granite Setting Destination Guide
Grandly named 'Devonia's Alps' by celebrated author William Crossing, Dartmoor is formed by the largest mass of granite in Britain, is very peaty and has a lot of bogs. Of more interest for us, however, is that over the last 30 years it has matured from being a relative backwater frequented mostly by tough-skinned locals into an outstanding bouldering destination,...
Classic Winter - East Ridge of Beinn a' Chaorainn
There's a lot to be said for winter climbing - we wouldn't put ourselves through it for nothing. Yet it does seem a perverse, self-punishing sort of activity. I often wonder about the way the axe-wielding brigade so willingly seek out the coldest, shadiest crannies to suffer in. Yes of course, that's where the conditions are. But how often have...

Luke Davies shares tips and tactics for climbing the six classic north faces of the European Alpswith some history to boot... In the 1930s, Alpinism had already been around for over a century and the list of unclimbed faces in the Alps was becoming shorter and shorter. Top Alpinists of the time from Austria and Germany such as Heckmair and...

Top 10 Borrowdale Routes at VS and Under Article
Borrowdale is the perfect place to develop your trad climbing skills. It's a valley with a long and storied climbing history where many have honed their practice over the years. The volcanic rhyolite here is one of my favourite rock types to climb on. It is full of features and friction (apart from the odd spot where it has worn...
Bridging Two Worlds: The Unlikely Connection Between Horses and Climbing
These days articles are often oriented around click bait, with publishers and media outlets frequently focussing on 'top five' this and 'top ten' that. As a result of this we thought we'd buck the trend and do something completely different, by taking a theme that has absolute no relevance to anyone and rolling with it. Unfortunately one issue with this...
Inside the Battle Over School Fitness Testing
Last spring, among the usual elementary school reminders about theme weeks and illicit peanut butter snacks (WE ARE A NUT FREE CAMPUS!!) an email popped up that gave me pause. My kindergartner would be weighed in school, it said, and I could click on a link to opt her out. It gave me the ick. I’d paid attention to young women...

Climbing Never Die - A Film about Ukrainian Climbers in the Midst of War Article
IFSC commentator and EpicTV presenter Matt Groom writes about travelling to Ukraine during the Russian invasion to make the documentary 'Climbing Never Die' for the current Reel Rock 18 film tour. On the journey to Kyiv by train, I shared a cabin with a bearded bear of a man who spoke very little English. I woke up to find him...
Anna Wells on the Winter Munro Round
On 13th March, Inverness based climber Anna Wells became the fourth person (and first woman) to complete a Munro round in winter, equalling the previous record of 83 days set by mountain guide and accomplished mountaineer, Martin Moran. Anna climbed all 282 Scottish 3000-foot peaks in a single astronomical winter season through a flexible approach that played to her strengths....

The Best of Peak Limestone Sport Climbing (6a – 7a) Destination Guide
It has been said that the Peak District is a difficult place to start sport climbing. The UK as a whole is not endowed with a huge number of high-quality, easy sport routes and hearing the words 'Peak limestone' certainly doesn't bring to mind climbing on tufa-ridden orange rock in the sun. Nonetheless, there's enough to go at for some...
