Osprey, Houdini Collab on Do-Everything, Recyclable Alpine Pack
Theres an assumption people make about outdoor gear that prioritizes circularity and sustainability. Many people expect to sacrifice durability and performance in exchange for these greener designs. Osprey and Houdini wanted to change that. So this season, the two brands teamed up to design a line of four-season technical packs, dialed for backcountry skiing, climbing, hiking, and other outdoor activities....
The 4th Annual Backcountry Hunters & Anglers Yard Sale Is On
The Backcountry Hunters Anglers (BHA) crew is cleaning house again. The groups fourth annual online Garage Sale is live from Nov. 4 through Nov. 16, 2025. Its offering up to 50% off gear from some of the biggest names in the outdoor industry. And the best part? Every purchase benefits public lands and conservation. What It Is This is no...
Small Enough for Your Keys, Tough Enough for Your Day: Victorinox Mini Champ Review
Multitools always make their presence known in my pocket, reminding me that they are in there. While something like the mid-sized Leatherman Skeletool CX doesn’t take up too much real estate, I am constantly aware of it. That’s fine when I’m working around the yard, but when I’m walking around the city, I want something that completely disappears in my...
GORE-TEX Invisible Fit: Not Your Grandparents’ Waterproof Shoes
Waterproof footwear has been around since the mid-19th century. Breathable, lightweight, waterproof footwear? Well, that’s another story. When GORE-TEX Brand first entered the boot scene in the 1980s, the brand’s waterproof technology was a massive leap forward from the wellies and gumboots of the day. Finally, boots made with GORE-TEX Technology offered a breathable option for keeping feet dry outdoors....
GOREWEAR Is Closing Its Doors After 40 Years
The original version of this story was published on BikeRumor. A storied cycling and running brand is apparently closing down after 4 decades. This week, retailers received a letter from GOREWEARs parent company announcing its intention to shut down the brand. In the letter, GOREWEAR claims that economic hardships are the reason for the closure, despite “careful consideration and in-depth...
Viral Aussie Gumboots Are Worth the Hype: Merry People Tully Ankle Rain Boot Review
I booked a 2-week trip to Iceland in September, knowing the weather might be rainy and unpredictable. Still, I hadn’t anticipated the amount of cold and muck that such conditions create in that part of the world. Thankfully, I’d packed my Merry People Tully Ankle Rain Boots. Whether I was traipsing through puddles at a campsite, enduring a brief sunshower...
Patio-Sized Vestibule With Stand-Up Ceiling Height: Big Agnes Bunk House Review
Why not make your car camping trip luxurious? For a backpacker like me, squeezing into a small space was just part of the deal when it came to camping. But growing your family can also mean growing your expectations for what adventure looks like. Spreading out and taking space is necessary for us these days, and the Big Agnes Bunk...
Watch: Faced With a Gene Mutation, Ultrarunner Chases FKTs
I would recommend keeping some tissues handy for this one. The documentary Ofrenda follows endurance athlete Sara Aranda as she attempts to set the first female record for one of the most brutal stretches of terrain in the United States. But its Arandas emotional battle — and the heart-wrenching poetry that accompanies it — that makes this short film so compelling. To...
Gucci Launches Technical Ski Gear With New ‘Altitude’ Line
The original version of this article was published on The Inertia. Luxury fashion brands dipping into the world of outdoor sports is nothing new. Most of the time, they come in the form of collaborations between an endemic brand. Its usually a surfboard maker and a luxury brand, or a snowboard brand and a world-class designer label. The list goes...
Trump Appoints New BLM Head as Public Lands Agency Changes Course
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump nominated former New Mexico Rep. Steve Pearce to lead the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The nomination has added fuel to the nation’s long-running fight over how public lands should be managed. The BLM oversees 245 million acres of surface land and nearly three times that in mineral rights, making its director one of the...
Digital Smartwatch in Analog Clothing: Garmin Instinct Crossover AMOLED Review
A small, seemingly innocuous update is sometimes all a piece of gear needs to become a near-perfect design. For example, Fenixs PD36R ACE is now near perfection just by adding USB-C charging. Turtlebox did the same thing with waterproof speakers, just by taking its flagship design and shrinking it down to the Ranger. With the Garmin Instinct Crossover AMOLED, the...
The Roller Bag That Made Me Retire My Airline Bow Case: KUIU Waypoint 10000 Review
Flying with archery gear usually means dragging a giant bow case, a stuffed duffel, and a credit card for oversize fees. I wanted to see if I could skip that circus. So I packed the KUIU Waypoint 10000 Roller with everything I needed for multiple hunts. I loaded it with my compound bow, longbow, arrows, broadheads, releases, tools, boots, layers,...
