X3 Backdoor (Spring 2023)
$169.95
Description

Ski mountaineering and alpine pack for long days

While the X3 600 has long been the top choice for long distance ski mountaineering racers, the CAMP X3 Backdoor delivers the same kind of lightweight performance with a more durable fabric and "Backdoor" access to the main compartment, making it the right choice for more routine ski tours and done-in-a-day adventures. The exclusive Backdoor feature allows access to contents of the pack without having to remove everything on top before gaining access to gear at the bottom. The new Tririp fabric is light, tough and coated for good moisture repellency and abrasion resistance. The Xpress Wire ski carrying system allows skis to be attached and removed without removing the pack. The hip belt is padded for carrying comfort. Large open mesh pockets, a spacious lid and a pocket on the hip belt allow for great organization and fast access to essentials. The X3 Backdoor also features the innovative C.A.M.P. exclusive EZ OP buckles on the chest strap and waist belt. The EZ OP buckle features a special pull tab that engages a wire to automatically open the buckle for fast and easy, one-handed operation – especially useful with frigid fingers.

Affordable Coziness for Downhill Resort Laps: REI Women’s Powderbound Insulated Ski Jacket
I didnt need many ski runs to understand what the Powderbound womens ski jacket does best. Tested during an early-season weekend at Aspen Snowmass, I quickly realized its a comfortable, no-fuss resort jacket that prioritizes warmth and thoughtful attributes over technical bells and whistles. And this is a good thing. The Powderbound is part of REI’s value-oriented ski lineup. It’s...
Buy It for Life: Is a $760 Carry-On Worth It?
Until a few months ago, Id never heard of Saddleback Leather Company. But today, Im looking at a $760 leather duffel bag that appears to be from another century. The Deep Pocket Leather Duffle shines with heavy hardware and sturdy stitching that could have been inspired by the 1800s. And frankly, barring some sort of over-the-top disaster, I expect itll...
2026 X Games: How to Watch & When to Catch Free Music, Events
This weekend, athletes and fans will descend upon Aspen, Colo., to watch one of winter sports most anticipated competitions of the year. From January 23 to 25, the X Games returns to Buttermilk Mountain for its 25th year. Skiers, snowboarders, and — for the first time since 2021 — snowmobilers will compete head-to-head for spots on the podium. This year, all...
Camp Futon, Alpaca Quarter-Zip, Winter Olympics Accessories, and More Emerging Gear
Its a little too easy (at least for me) to dismiss alarming weather events. But theres no denying that much of the country is about to get hit by a serious winter storm — and nothing reminds you of the importance of solid gear like a bone-chilling freeze. With several months of winter still ahead for many of us, its...
House Votes to Allow Mining Near Boundary Waters
The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) in Minnesota is a popular spot with paddlers, hikers, and anglers. Soon, it may be opened for nearby mining, which critics argue will damage its pristine nature. On Wednesday, Jan. 21, the House of Representatives passed a bill to overturn a 20-year ban on mining in the area. The Area (Photo/Sean McCoy)...
Make Seamless Skin Track Transitions: Black Diamond Dawn Patrol 25 Pack Review
Skinning up Cameron Pass, the cool crisp air blew through the trees, and snow floated above me. The new Black Diamond Dawn Patrol Pack fit seamlessly on my back as I cut a skin track up the mountain. The pack carried all my gear, clothes, and food — it was almost an extension of myself, moving freely with me as...
A Line We Shouldn’t Cross: Why Alex Honnold’s Live Skyscraper Climb Is a Step Too Far
I like Alex Honnold. A lot. Not in the casual, “I watched the movie” way. I like Honnold, the person. I particularly respect something that’s rare in a modern celebrity: He’s exactly the same person on-camera that he is away from it. The bluntness. The oddball pragmatism. The almost clinical way he talks about risk, fear, and effort. Most public...
Colorado to Pause Gray Wolf Reintroduction Through 2026
Since its inception in 2020, Colorado Parks and Wildlifes (CPW) gray wolf reintroduction program has been a hotbed of controversy. The plan to source wolves from Oregon and Canada and release them in Colorado has sparked criticism from livestock owners, as well as a split with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). Now, the program has hit a major...
Eternal Ice HD Pro Ice Bath + Chiller Review: A Durable Tub for the Great Outdoors
Cold plunge and chiller combos often cost $3,000 or more, which is why durability should be a factor when considering one. Often, a chiller will go out, or the tub itself can crack or degrade over time, especially when exposed to the elements. A cracked tub can throw that $3,000 investment right out the window. Which is why, when I...
The Next Great Knife Steel: What Is MagnaMax?
In the last year, the knife industry faced some challenges that could have had some long-lasting impacts. From the closing of a primary U.S. steel supplier to threats of tariffs that disrupted supply chains and pricing, 2025 was, in certain regards, a hot mess. During that time of unrest, rumors of a new super-premium knife steel started to float around...
A Rocket Ship Spinning Rod for Trout and Panfish: Shimano Compre Lite Rod Review
While sitting on the boat ramp at the end of an eventful day on the water, my snobby fly-fishing buddy turned to me and said, Let me see that thing. The thing he was referring to was the Shimano Compre Lite Spinning Rod in my hand. I handed it over and watched with a smirk as he guiltily flipped the...
Bone-Dry Storm Gear for the Sopping-Wet Angler: Columbia Force XII Collection
As a native Cape-Codder, foul-weather and chilly temps are arguably the two biggest challenges to enjoying my fall and winter fishing trips. While run-and-gun fishing offshore and getting clobbered by the rain and breakers from the beach, Fort Knox-level storm gear is the only way I endure the elements and keep fishing. Enter the Columbia Force XII Collection, an iron-wall...
